Hi Everyone

We are after an additional radiator. We have three that we bought some years ago from Pop Life but I was wondering if anyone had seen any on there travels on offer etc?

What a good idea.

They are good heat providers, but can lead to large electricity bills! They are best if they have a thermostat.

That's a great shout! As we are not permanent they don't get used much but I'm still keen as Dee says to try and get something with a thermostat and ideally a timer...not that I'm picky!

You can always have a plug-in timer. I have found the oil filled rads to be the most economical of all electrical heaters. I'd never have a gas heater as they produce too much condenstation & Co2 in the room! Aircon heat I find is too dry and drafty.

I agree Mike. We do have a gas fire but I can't remember the last time we used it.

Generally the larger radiator from late afternoon through the evening and night on a low setting and with a thermostat has done the trick. But now we have moved we will need to get use to what works at the new place...all good fun though.

I think the Polemi shop ones do have thermostats

Don't call at the shop to view them, they are in our storage container until we have space in the shop to display them

You often see Oil filled radiators for sale here, new and mostly secondhand, reason they are poor and expensive to run, best to buy the convector type with fan assistance, in my opinion..

Always remember with electricity that since maths was invented, V=IxR

You get 1 Kw of heat from 1 Kw of electricity (with the exception of inverter type A/C units I believe)

Some electric heaters give it quickly and some slowly but the same electrical heat energy is produced.

We've had oil filled rads for some time now, with thermostats. We bought ours from Paps in the centre of Paphos, cost about 45 euros (large size). We also have convector heaters for when it gets colder. We know rads are more expensive to run but we do love being able to move them around, and to be able to store them away in the summer months.

We had friends over last Christmas, staying at a flat we have. It's a fairly well insulated place, with double glazing and only two outside walls.

The friends used a couple of oil-filled radiators to keep warm. They didn't do much cooking. Our electricity bill was €100 higher than usual!

^ I should add that the friends stayed for two weeks.
