More intense is expected today on Friday, November 3, the presence of the Police in Paphos as part of the campaign to control free-hand driving and traffic light traffic violation.
"At the international level, driving the driver's attention is one of the most important factors that greatly contribute to increasing the likelihood of engaging in a car crash. In fact, the use of a mobile phone while driving also plays a decisive role, "the Cyprus Police noted.
According to those statistics, about one in four fatal accidents, or 24.89%, had as their main cause negligent and careless driving. These statistics, whether at European or Cypriot level, clearly show the seriousness of the problem.
For this reason, with the aim of reducing traffic accidents and enhancing good road consciousness, the Cyprus Police Carries out a campaign to control free-hand driving and traffic-light offenses.

I think the amount of tickets the police have issued ..speaks for itself, recently I saw Police in Larnaca using a speed gun, they were using an unmarked Isuzu twin cab, good for them.

I very frequently travel to Nicosia, Larnaca and Protaras. It is not ususual - indeed it is likely - to see 3 or 4 speed traps on the round trip.
This was the first time ive seen them in unmarked cars,

Have been driving around Paphos most of the morning & can't say that I have seen more police than usual, certainly not seen any in the vicinity of traffic lights!

You could be right. But even without thinking (must be guilt complex

) I always slow down when I see a car, any car, parked on the hard shoulder.
Same here, but this was in the center of Larnaca.

When we had our white pajero we regularly put the fear of God into hunters who ran into us when we were out exploring. They would mistake us for the police, and when we got close they would be on the short wave radio to their mate telling them the hunting equivalent of "Don't flush!"
