It's disgusting that people 'fake' these things for financial reward. The implications on hotels is massive and inevitably the money comes from all our pockets, as hotels have to increase costs to cover eventualities. This litigious culture is field by ambulance chasing legal firms that should be outlawed.

Unfortunately it seems to be a trait amongst certain English people these days. The tour operators don't have the same problem with other countries.
If you really want to open a can of worms, look where most of the whiplash claims originated from in the UK.

The sad thing is, when I did an internet search on "whiplash claims by region in the UK" I was inundated with ads for legal firms.

The report does not seem to say how much she was fined, only how much she has to pay of TC's legal costs.

Yes, I had previously heard that fraudulent claims are a real headache for insurance companies these days. Especially claims for whiplash injuries following a car accident often all faked..
The unfair aspect is that inevitably insurance companies who have to waste money on investigating all claims, by motorists, are likely to have to raise the cost of their insurance policy premiums to cover it....
