Is this the road in Kamares, Tala? If not, I'm staggered there's another one like it!

If it is the Kamares road, then it's been like this for many, many years, and I know no-one who can explain why it is like it. Surprised Leptos haven't done anything about it.

This is the old fashioned way that local people used to shore up embankments on or near their land, they fill drums with stones and concrete.
It looks like they have tried to cover the drums with fabric at some time, I expect to make it easier on the eye.
You see it more often out in the countryside.

Yes it is the lane on KAMARES . I could not find Steptoes yard though .

But not in a Leptos development! The photo doesn't show that the road is just off the main thoroughfare through Kamares, Kamares Avenue. It's been like that for many years and presumably the owner of the property (to the left of the photo) has used the drums as a retaining wall. Very odd thing to do, considering the amount the owner probably paid for the property in the first place.

I expect the owner of the land had it before Leptos built Kamares. Leptos probably didnt offer the land owner a nice new retaining wall.

It's been like that for as long as I can remember! But originally I seem to remember Leptos cleared and graded the slope all along the right side of the lane there. Gradually other plots were sold and built on, except this one. I think that the oil drums were subsequently put there to prevent the loose soil, rocks etc on the unbuilt plot from rolling down the slope and into the road whenever there was heavy rain. Since then they have just stayed there!

The previous owner of the land was Neophytos Monastery, so not likely. All a mystery. And has been for many years.

Not a mystery, as I have been told that Leptos bought all the land that the original part of Kamares is built on from the Monastery at a very reasonable price. Apparently, previous to that it was thought that this land was unsuitable for building because of its rugged terrain. As I understand it, Tala used to own the land before that, but gave it to the Monastery some time before, - possibly as payment for a tax or as a gift from some prominent family to help ensure a smooth passage in the after life!
