Bee Eaters in the UK

We were down at our local nature reserve today and were lucky enough to see a red squirrel( which we have been trying to track down for ages!) Anyway whilst there we were told that the Bee Eaters have been seen locally - did not think we would see them again after we left Cyprus!
Whether or not it is because it is really mild here for October I don't know.

What a little darling, Poppy!
A few years ago, we did a fire alarm installation at an old Victorian mental hospital near Arlsey in north Herts. Set in large park-like grounds, the squirrels there were even rarer than our native red species...
They were BLACK!

Yes I have heard of the black squirrels, never seen one though.

Have not heard of black ones Al but would love to see one.Apparently there are only about 5 in the Nature Reserve here according to the Ranger so hope they do breed Jackie

I hope you get to see your local Bee Eaters, Poppy. According to Max and others, you need a camera with a 60x zoom lens, though, as they won't let you approach too close...

Thanks for that Al.I think all squirrels are lovely but the grey ones are shot here which is sad but they are seen as vermin.If we do get to see the Bee Eaters my husband is a photographer so has the appropriate lenses - that is how he was able to get the squirrel as we must have been a good 50 yards away.
