You could well be right that would explain it as he never normally misses a day and to go four days without a post is odd.

No, I don't think you are imagining anything.

Al is taking a short break, but will be back.

Sort of. More of a "time out" than a ban though. I am still in contact with him in and am thrashing out a way we can accommodate his obvious enthusiasm and love for the place (Paphos) with the desires of other forum users.

I hadn't wanted to discuss this without Al being able to comment, however, people are clearly concerned so it is probably for the best that I do.

As I said in the recent past, Al is very much a marmite poster, in that some people love him whereas the frequency of his posts wind other people up.

This was bubbling more and more to the surface, I was getting PMs from fed up posters, and supporters, and it seemed to affect Al quite badly too. In the end, I decided that enough was enough, and implemented a 2 week ban. He can still see the forums (hello Al! ) but he cannot post on them.

I am putting together a plan (now on 3rd draft...) which I will put to Al, which will hopefully accommodate everybody.

Now, if anybody has anything CONSTRUCTIVE to add to this, either send me a PM or comment below. If you have anything bitchy to say about anybody else, please save me the bother and start a new thread in the pit, because that is where it will end up if it gets posted here.

It's obvious that Al's heart is so very much in Paphos and not Luton. He's also said so himself. I'm wondering why he doesn't just pack up and move to Cyprus. That way he can post as often as he wants because everything he says will be current.

Looking forward to your posts once again Al.

He seems a lovely fellow and I see his posts as being nothing other than enthusiastic and constructive .... some, such as on the restaurant thread, annoyed people, but he was not intending anything other than help. Some people need to be more considerate of what, for some, might be an important part of their life....

I agree with all the previous posts, Al’s heart is clearly in Cyprus, I too enjoy his enthusiasm.

Indeed, and some people need to chill out. It's just an internet forum ... life's too short.

The thing is, both sides of the situation had valid points. I won't say anything more at the moment, because I don't think it's right to discuss the situation without Al being able to contribute.

Al seems a nice bloke a bit over the top at times and he has just gone through a bad time. I hope this is resolved and everyone can be friends.

It is in the process of being resolved. Don't worry. Al will be back with us soon. There will also be a new section. If I (or anybody else) cannot come up with a better name, it will be called "Chit Chat". There will also be a new group created: "Don't show me chitchat". Anybody who joins that group, will not be able to see what gets posted in Chit Chat.

I have told Al that there will be a cap on the amount of times he can post in a day on the main forum, but in the Chit Chat section, he, and anybody, can post as often as they like.

I am in the process of thrashing out the final details, but that is the plan.
