Justice Minister Ionas Nicolaou has submitted legislation opening the way for law enforcement agencies to listen in on phone calls in Cyprus....

This brings Cyprus into line with the UK. Of course, every call can be listened into. Including those that are nothing to do with terrorism and more to do with your secret romantic liaisons. You have been warned.

I wouldn´t mind as long a judge has to authorise it and as long as any finding will only be used in connection with the case authorised by the judge (fight terrorism and severe crimes).

Quite right. Every call and text in the UK is listened to or read by the authorities. Initially this is by computers and passed to humans if anything of concern is identified. The police come into it much later.
