We are new arrivals. Where we live there are Blue and Brown re-cycling bins, but they only have notices on them in Greek as to what should be put in them.
What is each one for?
(I notice though that some people put ordinary rubbish in them!)
Tommy.

Brown = paper, carton
Blue = PET and metals (I think?)

Also don't fret about having the 'proper' recycling bags on sale at the supermarkets, as long as you don't mix it up any bag or container is suitable.
Thank you!
Tommy.

All the information is here: http://greendot.com.cy/en/koino/giati-na-anakykloso

I understood that the recycling bags you get from the supermarkets were recyclable

I would suggest you report this to your local authority. If anybody knows of a better place to report stuff like this, please let us know!

We had this very same problem in Guernsey when recycling was started up there. Until such time as everybody (or even the vast majority) puts the correct stuff in the correct bin, it has to be either dumped as general waste or sorted at the waste depot. They cannot recycle until they get a clean enough stream to make it viable. In the meantime, having the various bins for various types of recycling is encouraging people to get into the correct habit, and getting the waste stream cleaner.
