TP-link adapter

One of the pair of TP-link adapter I bought a couple of years ago suddenly stopped working last night. Our tv addons just came up with errors and then I noticed that all the lights on the TP-link we out. I checked the socket and it was working perfectly. There are various YouTube videos suggesting that the capacitor may have died, but the skill required to replace it is beyond me. Has anyone faced a similar problem, or can suggest a solution? I don't want to have to buy another pair of adapters, if it can be avoided.

Are you talking about powerline adapters? IE, they plug into a power socket given you ethernet via the electiricity network?

Yes I am. We had to go back to wifi connection to get everything to work again.

What model is it? Some of them you can just get extra adapters for. There will be a main unit by the router and you add adapters as you need.

I started with a pair of TP-Link adapters when I first moved to Cyprus and have had to replace one then the other a couple of times, twice under guarantee, and also by buying new ones. I often had connection problems using them and even tried to upgrade them through links on the company website. I moved from Cyta to Primetel a couple of weeks ago, and almost by chance found that I didn't need the TP-Links anymore, the wi-fi from the router was good enough. I now have a much better connection in the rest of the house then I had using them.

Just found the box and it is TL-PA411 (AV 500). I suspect that this model has been superseded by a slightly faster set-up, when I looked on Amazon. My goodness it has affected my tv viewing. I have literally had no buffering for the last couple of years and that is no longer the case.

I take it that the broken one is not the one by the router?

How did you know? You're right. It's the one plugged into my Android box.

Interestingly I have just put them side by side and they are identical. I had assumed the one by the router would be the "master" but obviously not with this model.

Dominic, thanks for the link. I have spent a considerable time reading through all the stuff on there but to no avail. I downloaded the Mac tool and set everything up as it suggests but the adapter does not show up and I fear it is beyond redemption. I see that new products have a 3 year warranty. I bought these second-hand four years ago so I suspect they do not owe me anything.
