Thanks button

Humblest apologies to everyone who I having been thanking your posts, never realizing that these were spamming your Notifications and PMs, jeez... Main reason these issues bypassed me, was that nobody thanks my posts, so I didn't know what was going on, LOL!

I've suggested to Dom (via PM) that he turns OFF these notification and PM features. As the poster can see who thanked, when scrolling back through the thread. Let's see where this idea takes us, eh?

Sorry once again, but the Thanks button works a bit different on the vBulletin® Version 4.2.0 board I'm used to...

Cheers- AL )

I'm not going to turn off notifications. If you only use the thanks button sparingly, when you are really grateful, then the problem goes away. Besides, it will mean a lot more then too. :)

I must admit I use an S in realise, as that is what I was taught at school. If a spellchecker tells me it is Z I over rule it.

Realise and realize are different spellings of the same word, and they can be used interchangeably. Both are common throughout the English-speaking world, though in different areas. Realize is preferred in American and Canadian English, while realise is preferred outside North America.

I like the Cypriot approach; if you understand what I meant that is good enough for me.

I have a Cypriot friend who owns a shop in Paphos.
He understands and speaks pretty good English.
I happened to be in his shop when he received a
letter from a customer which stated
I would like a further window blind in the small bedroom
He asked me the meaning of "further", and I told him, it means another.

My friend said to me.............why did he not write "another"?

And I cannot think of a good reason why he didn't write' another '

The English language is not so easy to understand for anyone not British.

eg.

How do you pronounce the word "bow" if you don't know the context?

There must be loads more.

I'd like to hear some more.

same spelling - different pronounciation - lead & lead...tear & tear

different spelling - same pronounciation eg. bough & bow... threw & through ... mail & male....plain & plane

Given that this thread has evolved into some type of jazz free-form expression word game thing, I am moving it to the Quizzes section.

Stay funky. 8-)

And speaking of jazz; scat and scat.

Scat as in be "doobee zaba zaba doobie dabbie ding dong diddly dong"

Scat as in "I just trod in a big pile of scat".
