Driving home after my Saturday Fish Lunch I HAD to stop the car and use my camera... this colour you will find only occasionally from such a huge shrub

When Cyprus blooms, it really blooms.

Bus stop lovely, but what fish did you have Max. I have made a good old English dish for tea. Mexican Lasagne

You have to be more patient Stelios and wait for my post tomorrow. So far I will tell you in advance that I had Sorgos and Voppa....

Beautiful, Max! I remember driving from Pomos to Pyrgos around the Kokkinos green line enclave east of Polis. In the hills above this area, you pass a bus stop that is painted in camouflage colours...
I once picked up a couple of young army conscripts there on my way back to Paphos. We stopped at Pomos, where I treated them to a beer and some of my roll ups. Dropped the first one off in Gyliou, and the next in Mesogi. They were on weekend leave. Good day out!
Cheers- AL

This was taken many years ago locally, personally, Bougainvillea is a colorful weed and makes a terrible mess when it sheds its flowers (daily), do not plant this anywhere near a swimming pool.

Your photo is the same bus stop, just years ago before renovation obviously. Much nicer now.
Concerning Bougainvillea: They are too pretty, not to have them. In my friends house there is also a huge one 2 m away from his Pool but no any problem thanks to his solar pool pump. All the leaves are always in the skimmers...

Morning Max...
Years ago I used to maintain swimming pools, and the plant that gave the most problems was Bougainvillea, it clogged up the filter boxes and needing constant clearing out, yes they may look great when in flower but for sure I would avoid planting any, just look at that mess on the ground imagine that in your pool!!
Trying to think when that picture was posted on CL it must have been at least 6 years ago, I hope you are getting used to that new camera, looks like you will be posting more great photos, well done, nice to meet up last week.

The worst experience we had last autumn was the huge Pampas grass we inherited in our back garden. When that shed it's seeds they went up in a huge arc, across the garden, and straight into the pool. It inspired me to get rid of the grass, but it had a wasps nest lurking inside and the wasps didn't want to be disturbed. I remember as I was cutting it back with a chainsaw, a single wasp appeared from nowhere, and I watched in slow motion as it turned to me and dive bombed. The cunning little bugger went straight for my eyes, though luckily I was wearing my glasses. It stung me below the rim, and it felt like I had been punched by somebody holding a pencil.
I then learned that wasps can't fly at night, so went back and sprayed it with WD40.
Since then, I have used the "wasps can't fly at night" rule to good effect. It makes getting rid of wasp nests straightforward, but I use insect spray instead of WD40 now.

Dominic, Pampas grass is like Bamboo one of the favourite places for snakes to hide. I removed both in my last garden for this reason. If you use the green insect spray instead of the yellow one ( also for cockroaches) it is more strong....

and it is longer lasting.

I removed it last Autumn. It is now a rose garden.
