TIA,

Although we have been back a few years now, we used Churchill who were very good.

I used Keith Michaels earlier this year and they assured me that they did accept my full no claims from Cyprus however they were expensive and I think it was because I had a cypriot driving license which I had only held for less than a year. No company seemed to accept that I had held a full license for nigh on 40 years albeit UK and then Cypriot. I have now changed it again for a UK license so will see what happens next year ( they will probably say again I have only had a license for less than 12 months. Many companies did not want to know and Nissan(who I bought the car from ) refused me outright. My advice for what it is worth is not to change to a cyprus license if you think there may be any chance of you returning to the UK unless due to age you have to.

I rang my insurance company for guidance, as I bought it online. They told me that it didn't matter that I had changed to a Cypriot licence, my original one was issued in the UK so they told me to put that I had held my licence since the date it was first issued. No problems.

I also found it as quite easy to find a company that would accept my Cypriot NCB, I shall check and see which one I used.

Thanks all. I'm waiting for response to emails to Churchill and Aviva. I'll phone if they don't get back to me tomorrow.
I know "Photolady" has recently returned and hoping she'll post with her findings.
Thanks again,
Trisha

In my book, if you've held a UK Driving Licence for 40 years, then lived in Cyprus for 2 years on their DL, then return to UK to yet another UK DL, you can honestly state 42 years DL, surely?

The DL experience is all EU gained and should therefore be accepted by car insurance, FCS! UK car insurance quotes ask you how long you have held a UK DL for. That's it, plain and simple. They can easily verify this info with DVLA if they should choose to do so...

Cheers- AL :)

We used Aviva.... They contacted GanDirect by email but we also got in contact. GanDirect sent proof of the no claims earned in Cyprus with them and also to us. We've since renewed with Aviva and may shop around the next time.

UK only count previously earned no claims within UK for a maximum number of years. Once you've passed it then you've had it.

Not positive but it was only a short period and think it was about 3yrs....

We had previous no claims with Bank of Cyprus but we could only use the proof from our last Cypriot company as we switched to GanDirect a few years after our arrival in Cyprus.

We had 7yrs with Bank of Cyprus but I think you can only claim a maximum of 9yrs no claims in any event.

Trisha hello, I asked the same question for a friend on the now defunct CL site last year, for sure Abbygate (Abbysure) do allow no claims bonus if you use their company and return to the UK as they do business in the UK.

Good luck on your return.

Just to update.....
Aviva and Abbeygate would accept Cyprus NCB. Churchill didn't return my call or reply to my email.
The best price I got was from a company called ERS who accepted the NCB, through the broker Arnold Clark.
Thanks all for your help,
Trisha
