I have added a new Media plug-in!

Now lots of media links will be embedded (in a copyright-friendly fashion of course!)

And it isn't just youtube vids...

The above link isn't an ad. It is what happens if you post a link from Amazon. In total, over 30 media sources are supported. Let me know if there are any unexpected side-effects though.
Grimly fiendish indeed!

It's working on the music section in the song chain thread.

And is it a welcome enhancement? I like it but it is always best not to assume that everybody will.

Like JB I have no idea at all waht your on about. What is it. What is it supposed to do. Simple reply for an ancient who struggles with technical things.
The clue was in the first post. Instead of just a link which takes you to another website, the plugin allows you to see and play the link within the PL site

Great improvement, thanks, and implemented in a similar way on the imessage system of the iPhones (i.e. paste a URL to a newspaper article and it shows the headlines plus the intro of the article).

Basically, in the past, if you wanted to share a youtube video, you would post the link. Your post would then show the link, which you would then have to click. You would then be taken from Paphos Life, to the new site. Once there, you would possibly be distracted by something, and not return.
The media plugin checks links that are posted. If it can, it translates that link into a viewable form, so you see the video as you would on youtube, instead of just the text link. Also, if you then click the link to play it, it plays on Paphos Life.
I shall investigate further too. It would be really cool if I could rig it so that I could post a link to one of my blogs, and it would convert it into the blog thumbnail and a snippet. We could do the same thing for directory entries too.

Glad you like it. You raise a good point too, HiC. If you edit an existing post with a link, it will then get displayed properly.

Thank you so much for that easy to understand description
I thought that's what I said, in far fewer words!
