I saw the original story, and am glad there is a saner explanation.

Never let the truth get in the way of a good story, as they say. Problem is that such 'false news' is becoming more predominant in these times of social media when everyone and his granny are investigative reporters.

Did you see the earlier report? It had been wrongly assumed that the turtle had been tortured. Nothing like crossed wires to start a scandal.
