From 1st September, broadband speed will increase and prices will drop.
For example my current 16mb will increase to 20mb and upload from 750 to 1mb.

New customers cannot be upgraded, as there is nothing to upgrade. They will just get the new tariffs. That's how I read it anyway.

Yes, I think you're right. Still good news for the customer, so I'm happy.

By contrast, the big three here in UK (Virgin, BT, Sky) all seem to operating some sort of inflation-busting price hike cartel every 9 months.

Invariably instigated by BT, with the others following on like sheep... I've lost count of the times that I've asked Virgin to HOLD your prices, then see how many ex BT and Sky customers you sign up subsequently! Total waste of breath...

Got to hand it to cyta the last few years, they have turned their service from rubbish to first class, I've had to ring them up for internet problems, I can't tell you how patient, polite and helpful they have been, who ever is responsible for this change please take a bow.

We will have to wait to see what Primetel come up with !

I have 8000 download speed now being upgraded to 10,000. I see that 5000 mbs is considerably cheaper. Does anybody on this download speed watch internet television and is it any good?

You got your units wrong - I would not suggest to go down to 5.0 Mpbs. It might work sometimes but is really at the lower limit for streaming telly.

HIC. I don't have a super HD television. Do you think 5000 Mpbs would do. I know I could probably ask to change tariffs to find out but I thought I would ask first. Pat

We started with 6000 some years ago and the streams buffeted and froze constantly, I think with 5000 you will struggle to watch tv

Thank you both for replying. Guess I shall stick with what I have and be grateful to CYTA that the price is going down and not up! (Paying £2.50 pcm for BB, plus line rental, with EE in UK so always a bit miffed at CYTA prices.☺).

£2.50 per month for broadband?

Yup! And till I renewed in July it was 99 pence. It's the line rental they sting you with in the UK. Nothing fancy just basic BB. Up to 17 Mbps, unlimited and free weekend calls. That's why I feel hugely overcharged in Cyprus ☺

That's why support in the UK is so dire these days.
