But aren't the US warships 'exercising' in that part of the eastern Med more likely to be involved with ongoing daily events in northern Syria and Iraq?

Israel, I am sure, will have a part to play in this, as potentially will Egypt. A pipeline is needed, unless someone were to invest billions in a Liquefying plant (that Turkey has) and both Egypt and Israel might want this pipeline to go ahead and it would have to run through Cypriot waters.

Turkey's stance is wrong. They are a 'protector' nation in the Cyprus problem. We never hear Greece or the UK coming out with threats to Northern Cyprus (the occupied North) They could, over the water pipeline that runs through Cypriot waters.....

Turkey needs reigned in and unfortunately Russia needs them and the US needs them and NATO......

Forget Turkeys Dictator, threatening little Cyprus with allsorts, he hasnt got the balls to raise a finger at the French...let the nutter jump up and down as much as he wants, he cant do a thing.

The Sad thing PaphosAL is before these religious maniacs got in, Turkey was a shining example at how a muslim country could be progressive and modern, financially soaring etc...then we have these maniacs get in, voted mainly by poor rural uneducated people, what we have now is very scary, he took on the military with his fake coup, imprison thousands, thousands lost their jobs, shut down media and imprisoned more journalist then any other country on the planet, he secretly supplied arms to Isis, he threatens fellow Nato members Holland and Germany etc..his son in law was buying fuel from Isis and financially supporting Isis,..etc etc, if any student wants to see how a Dictator is made and how a country slips into Dictatorship then all they have to do is follow the events in Turkey...Ataturk must be spinning in his grave......going back to the beating up of the peaceful protesters, there is a video, where they film the great dictator himself, standing out side his car orchestrating the assaults himself.
