Something missing on Monday

Where is Max's Saturday lunch report from Filiatos Fish Taberna, on Timi Beach? I do so look forward to reading his report, not to mention gazing at his nice photos.

Which actually make you feel that you are there, and can almost smell the grub, and taste the cold Keo, whilst gazing out through the window, with that amazing sea view close up!

Probably Red Mullet and/or White Sea Bream again, I suspect... Someone has to go Dutch with a magnificent 2 person Fish Meze there with Max, methinks? He's been hankering after that for ages...

Cheers- AL ;)

Unfortunately I forgot my camera last Saturday at home. So I could not show you which greedy pig I am when it comes to order fish. Catch of this day was Grouper (Greek – Βλαχος) and it was so big that I could not even think about having a dessert. I forgot about this type of fish which I enjoyed a lot in the past. So I had as my starter mixed Greek Salad, tahini, olives, capers, pitta bread, and with the huge Grouper (800 gr) delicious hand cut chips, some like wedges...and after an hour only one Greek Coffee. At home I enjoyed some Whisky for better digestion. I copied one photo that you can see how a Grouper looks if you don't know it already....

If that was the kind of place where you were likeley to catch gippy tummy, Geoff, then I don't think you would find Max going back there every Saturday lunchtime, surely?

A few years back, there was a major outbreak of eColi food poisoning in a well known hotel on TOTK road, involving a few dozen Austrian tourists. Cause was at the time established as open sewers running right under the open windows of the hotel kitchen, where they were preparing lunches and evening meals!

Notice that I haven't named the hotel, in order to preserve Dom's integrity. But you, being a clever chap, can add 2 and 2 together, to find out where I'm referring to, in your other 'directions' thread. Just ask your friends to have a bloody good sniff round before eating...

Cheers- AL :)

There are at least 20 different Grouper. Below a very good link. In Cyprus they call them also orfos or vlachos...

The one I had for lunch was exactly like the one on the photo. They called it orfos at Latchi and Vlachos here at Timi Beach... but were caught by their own fishing boat nearby.

Amazing, Max- 800g! I'm surprised you don't take some tin foil with you, to use as a doggy bag for next day's lunch at home as well, LOL!

Yia Mas! AL :)
