Thats strange, what makes you think that insurance4carhire.com has stopped their cover?. They seem pretty active on the interweb?

Indeed, I received an email from them only last week. Used them for years, until we changed car hire company, and no longer need excess cover.

I think you will find that if your normal country of residence is Cyprus, you are no longer eligible for their insurance.

Flossie- are you looking for annual Premium Insurance for no matter what hire car you rent through the year, or a recommendation for a Paphos family-run hire car company that offers excellent hire rates, quality Insurance, waiting for you at PFO (and drop off there when you fly back)? Where you just leave the fuel tank at the same level you found it?
Where you pop in next day to settle up, (100m opposite ATG Hotel on the west side of Limnaria Centre) and enjoy a nice coffee or cold drink and chat? Someone who answers the phone and responds to eMails quickly? If so, PM please!
Cheers- AL

Well as you perhaps know Flossie is in Paphos, so I didn't think she was referring to Cyprus.. I think she is referring to the UK

Thanks, Trev. So what sort of extra Insurance is needed for a Cy resident hiring a car in UK, over and above what they are already paying for in their UK rental contract, may I ask? Are we talking CWD and Excess perhaps?
I might be able to find out a bit more on this subject from my very good friend Sue, who is Manageress at Avis, LTN, given some more input...
Cheers- AL

Yes we are talking CDW and excess. If you need to make sure you have no excess to pay it can cost a lot to buy the CDW from your UK car hire company..

EXACTLY! Perhaps some expats aren't being truthful about their country of residence which could backfire should they need to make a claim!
I know a couple of people, who reside in Cyprus yet use a UK family address to get insurance....they think the Insurance company's are thick, and wouid not investigate if a claim is made, good luck with that one.

Apologies to the OP for not realising whether she's referring to the UK or Cyprus.
For the record, we live in the UK, but take long holidays in Cyprus, which is why we used Insurance4carhire. Best of both worlds

I have just had my renewal email for my CDW insurance with worldwideinsure.com. It specifically states that residents of EEA are eligible for cover.
I have previously made a claim that was paid in full and was completely dealt with online.

Being really thick here......
I'm hiring from Enterprise later in the year. In their ts and cs, they say that they will block the sum of £1000 on my credit card against this excess.
Does the fact that there are one of these policies in force, negate the need to block £1K on my credit card?
Is it something they dispense with if you have the excess insurance in place?
Thanks
CL

I think they will still block the 1,000. Mainly because you have not taken THEIR excess insurance..
