It is good that they run these clampdowns (and they do run them, it isn't just propaganda. I mention this for the benefit of any tourists.) but I wish they would do a similar clampdown on mobile phone use. This morning, I saw a car in front of me do a very poor 3 point turn, while talking on a mobile phone, then drive out from the side road we were on to the main road, still on his phone. The truck coming off the main road into the side road had a driver who was also on his mobile...

Yes, given that the clampdowns aren't in fact just paper tigers (unlike the speed cameras that aren't switched on in the UK, etc) on one level you would think it would make sense not to announce it.
However, if by announcing it, they make EVERYBODY slow down a bit. then I guess they will save more lives that way. Swings and roundabouts.

Never understood why they announce them, do it, then talk about the results after the fact.
I've never seen the logic in announcing it, what's the point?

Anything the Police do to try and increase road safety, should be applauded not mocked

Thank you Dominic, I did see your original post so didn't need the reminder. However, that was your opinion, I was just stating mine, so I hope you will let me have a view without dissing it. Cheers. X

I was unaware that I was dissing your opinion. I thought I was answering your question.

Oh I get it, you took my 'what's the point' as a question, my fault I should have perhaps said 'I don't get the point'
You would never try and foist your opinion on others, would you?

If you are trying to imply something, just say it. I've already made it plain that I misinterpret what you say, so you will have to speak clearly, otherwise who knows what I will think you meant?

"I know that you believe you understand what you think I wrote, but I'm not sure you realise that what you read is not what I meant.” Another

and not to be taken seriously, I think you know what I mean!!!
