Does anyone know of a Vet who specialises in Reptile animals? A friend's Tortoise is not eating for some reason.
Any help welcome. Thank you.

Thank you for that, Flossie. My friend is going to the Dentist above CYVets this afternoon so will pop in to see Dr Chris. Very fortuitous.

We used Cyvets for our rabbit too. Most vets only seemed to cater for dogs and cats.

Christos is very experienced with animals, specially tropical birds. As far as I know he is also the owner of the Paphos Zoo. I donated many of my parrots in 2003 to his park at Peyia, when I was moving to Italy.

Your friend should not be alarmed. Having personally kept many tortoises in the UK and here in Cyprus it is normal for them to estivate when the temperatue goes above 30 ish. They seek shade and do not eat or come out to play.
A Google definition 'Estivation (from the Latin word aestas, meaning summer) is a state of summer dormancy similar to winter hibernation, but in summer estivation, tortoises don't sleep all the time.'
Hope this helps,
Alan

Thank you very much for info, Alan. will let my friend know. She thought her Tortoise may be eggbound as she has a male Tortoise friend and there were eggs laid last year with 9 Tortoises born. Will let you know.
