Do you want a LIKE facility?

I am getting more and more requests for this, so I thought it about time I threw the question open.
When I say "Like" I mean the ability to either like a post, or thank the poster.
There will be no Unlike option. If you can't stomach the idea of a like button without an unlike button, then vote no.
Over to you!

I don't think people want a way of rating the net worth of individual posts. They just want an easy way of saying thanks.

Dominic I was thinking that a thumbs up/down would give an indication on how many people agreed/disagreed with a post.

It is more to do with thanking somebody for a good post, rather than specifically agreeing with them.
So if somebody asks for a dog walker, and somebody else posts a link to somebody they know, you will be able to thank them.
I guess in the politics section it might get used more as an sign that you agree with the political viewpoint, but in that instance, if you don't agree, you should tell them why you don't agree.

A simple "Like" button which doesn't offer the option to add any comment, I feel would be better than keep seeing posts re-quoted time and time again with a "Good Post" emoji below it

The problem is that the LIKE convention has been established over many years by Facebook; whereby a 'LIKE' indicates you like a post or picture. I suspect you'll face an uphill task trying to wean folks off that concept.
So if, for example, someone posted a photo of a cat or dog, you'd end up with a horde of LIKES, because people like the picture of the pet. 20 or 30 LIKES after a picture, without comment, would be boring, however adorable the pet. Would take up lots of thread space too. For that reason I don't think it's a good idea.
That isn't how a LIKE facility works. It is a counter. It will appear at the bottom of the post. Indeed, it's purpose is to stop hordes of indentiposts appearing after a post.

With 68 votes? I think there are much more members posting frequently.

Is like politics, if people don't agree they are not going to vote...

We could always have another vote, to see if anything changes or at least that's the way it works with politics

The poll is now closed. Thank you to everybody who took the time to vote.
I will be implementing a LIKE facility as soon as I have identified a suitable one.
