Takata airbag recall

Hi, I hope somebody can help, I went online yesterday to tax my car and I got a notice saying that my MOT had been revoked. I contacted the MOT station and was told that the government have done this because there is an airbag recall so the car is no longer deemed safe.
I contacted Honda to enquire about a replacement and was told that there is a waiting list and they can only do the replacement when its my time to have it done.
so MOT, Tax and insurance are all void until the repair is done and I get a new MOT. It could take months.
As I only have one the car I may need to either hire or buy a cheap run around in the mean time.
I was told that the government can help in certain cases with 100 per week for a hire car.
I cannot seem to find the link to see if I can apply.
Does anybody, in the same predicament have the link, so I can check?
Many thanks in advance.

Uncle D, I hope that someone can help you out with your enquiry. This is the first I have heard about the government providing some sort of financial assistance. I had the airbags replaced on a Honda car last year. But it was exactly TWO years after Honda had first contacted me by letter.

Thanks Trev, the car was in my late wife's name, I checked her phone today and it had a message from last October. So I had no idea about it till yesterday.

Our Honda Jazz was subject to an airbag recall. We had the driver airbag replaced around 8 years ago, (when the mayor had all the roads up in the old town) and had a text from Honda saying it was due for the passenger airbags.
May,2025, went into Honda and they they did not have the parts and there was a huge waiting list. We had heard that if it was not done by September we would have to pay for the work, which was untrue, but confirmed at the garage. We rang head office in Nicosia. They were very apologetic and told me to back to Honda and an appointment would be available. Airbags replaced at beginning of September, when we returned fromUK.
BTW, Honda were charging over €100 to get a certificate from them to say all recalls have been done, in order to sell your car. Other dealers, around €25, which is still robbery.
