We have recently moved and it is not possible to park our car in the shade. Our landlady will not allow (understandably as she has spent tens of thousands restoring the property) any alterations which might allow us to install a car port.

My question is this … we want to protect the bodywork from the sun. Someone suggested getting a “hard wax” twice a year. This would be costly but far cheaper than a respray. Any thoughts or recommendations on this would be invaluable.

Apart from waxing, you just buy a portable shade.

I thought portable shades needed anchoring. You can tell how little I know about these things.

Nothing can be installed. Landlady very protective of her investment, which we absolutely agree with.

Why don't you get a cover for the car? You will have to put it on and take off but no big problem. It depends how often you use the car.

We had considered that but were hoping for the easiest option, as we are not as young as we were. Don’t really need to worry about this until next Spring as the sun is no longer as fierce.

Yes, like the ones you may see at car boots or outdoor markets, they have a collapsible concertina type frame. and use tent pegs to anchor down, put the pegs in the softer ground, not tarmac or concrete, and/or tie guide ropes/cord to the pegs or attach to perimeter walls etc.
In the winter take it down as they can get damaged with high winds

My next door neighbour has just bought a new car for 30, odd grand, he was telling me that he has found a place in larnaca that will ceramic wax the car, i think he said its over 500e but they guarantee it for 5 years
