Well, why not?
If it is a genuinely signed cheque I can't see why there would be a problem.

The answer is no
I called them and they will only accept SWIFT payments.
Why in this day and age HMRC still only send cheques out is beyond me.
I will now need to contact HMRC, I will no doubt be on hold for the best part of an hour, and ask them to to send the cheque to my sister, in her name, so she can then deposit it into her account, and then send me a SWIFT payment.

They don't only send cheques, the paid my Tax Rebate into my UK bank account. With the RBS if you are on Digital Banking your UK branch will accept a photo of the cheque there are a few hoops but not many. I assume other banks are the same

HMRC what a joke they are!

They owed me £20 tax refund, I gave them my bank details to pay it into my bank account and what did they do.

They sent a cheque to me in Cyprus!!!

I had to send it to my brother in the UK with my bank details so he could pay it into my bank account.

We have very recently paid sterling cheques into our BoC account and it was accepted. Charges were obviously applied
