Following on from our walk along Coral Bay Beach, we are now heading down from Thalassa Hotel to Corallia Beach. So come with us as we walk down the Stairway to Heaven which leads to the Sea Front.

For me this beach looks more tidy then Coral Bay beach you filmed the other day, due to the underground spring which delivers still water in summer.

I was there with my first wife just after the 1974 war and we were sunbathing in a inflatable dinghy without any clothes on as there was no building yet.

At this image (1963) one can see only a army camp existed and you can also see the little river reaching the Bay....

What a difference in 2025 ...

There is not much on the net about the British Army Camp, but better than nothing...

"Camp Coral Bay was a British Army installation located in Cyprus, operational during the 1950s to mid-1960s.

Location and Purpose

Situated near the coastal area of Coral Bay, the camp served as a base for British troops stationed in Cyprus.
It played a role in the British military presence during the period of conflict related to the Cyprus Emergency (1955-1959), which involved tensions between Greek Cypriots seeking union with Greece and Turkish Cypriots.
Facilities and Activities

The camp included barracks, training facilities, and recreational areas for soldiers.
Troops engaged in various training exercises and operations related to maintaining order and supporting local governance.

Historical Context
The British military presence in Cyprus was significant during this period, with the island being a strategic location in the Eastern Mediterranean.
Following the independence of Cyprus in 1960, the British retained control over certain military bases, but Camp Coral Bay was eventually closed."

Oh I was hoping you had found a big source of 50s and 60s satellite imagery.
