The garden plant which really thrives in our Cypriot climate is the Hibiscus. Unfortunately I have only a hedge of about 12 m in my garden but many more meters of Bougainvillea which is a pain in the arse for me as it grows every year 4-5 m and very dangerous when you try to trim it.
This year it looked like it had some damage from some very cold days in spring at my place above Paphos and I thought I have to cut the tops of the shrub as they did not look healthy, but for a sudden plenty of flowers appeared already.
some close ups
here part of the hedge which hides the view to a ugly building site

They certainly don't like Polemi winters.

I like Hibiscus too, the more you deadhead, the more it flowers. I thought I would try freesia. It flowered and smelled divine but did not last long.
My garden is lovely just now but I fear it won't last long with the hosepipe ban in place.

It looks like your hibiscus got not enough water and plant nutrients.
My hedge gets water every second day and I led the old dead leaves from last year to moulder away, even when it does not look very tidy....
I got some more pics where one can see that and will post them tomorrow or so....

Talking about deadhead: these pic I did 4 days later in the evening, showing not only much more flowers now, but also what I believe is an excellent fertilizer for the plants: dead leaves and flower heads....I am going to brush them off the tiles and under the hedge that it looks more tidy

You may or may not know that you can make teq from hibiscus flowers supposed to be good if you suffer from high blood pressure. Never made it myself but a friend made some and I did not really like kthe taste.
