Cyprus is having serious water issues at the moment. The reservoirs are nearly empty, and the Summer Season hasn't even started yet. In this film we fly around what remains of Asprokremmos Reservoir. As of today, it is less than a quarter full, according to the Government data. We also show you views of Foinikas. This is an ancient village which used to be a stronghold of the Knights Templar. Now it lies in ruins, slowly falling back to nature.

That’s exceptionally low, I think it was 2008 when there was a water crisis if my memory serves me correctly water was imported from Greece, there has been an epidemic of new builds and hotels since then. Hopefully a desalination plant is imminent somewhere in the Region

Worth remembering what it was like only three years ago:

While one can see now without all the water, how much sedimentation happened in the last 43 years since the dam was built, I wonder how much real capacity is left. I am quite sure that it is much less than originally designed with 53.350.000 m3.
Perhaps if Water Authorities are quick with solutions to remove at least some of the sand, stones, sludge sediments before the next rainy season starts, the dam will be back to its capacity and not so quick empty than these last 2 years.

That's a very good point.
