I will be attending a meeting soon which has been arranged by Angel Guardians regarding the latest update about the progress of the Paphos crematorium.
Article dated 26 April 2025
A new organisation promoting cremation as an alternative to burial in Cyprus will launch on Wednesday in Larnaca, advocating for a centrally-located crematorium by 2030.

It's seems a pity that this 'new organisation' is emerging now when the first crematorium in Cyprus will be ready next year.
I would have had more respect for them if they had supported Maureen Watt in her (years long) battle to establish a crematorium in Cyprus. While I can understand that people will prefer a facility which is closer to where they live, I'm not sure that the relatively small distance from Paphos to other towns warrants this form of competition?
On the eastern forum.

Unfortunately it is fairly standard practice in Cyprus for a business idea to be duplicated. Once in Giolou there was a coffee shop. Now how many are there? You will see a similar pattern with petrol stations. It is a lazy practice that stifles genuine innovation.

I hope they factored in that other similar crems might open up ,
and it wasn't on the basis of it being the only crem in Cyprus,
i wonder how this will affect them now there seems to be others thinking of starting up similar ventures?

This is exactly what I was thinking, will it go ahead in paphos, considering the costs to run and returns.

Three reasons spring to mind that the crematorium will definitely go ahead in Paphos:
1. The relevant permissions have been passed by the respective authorities.
2. Considerable financial outlay has already taken place and will have been factored into the funding of the project.
3. The Larnaca crematorium is currently just a proposal to ascertain interest with 2030 as a proposed time when it will be functioning.

Best wait an see, before things have been planned and never materialised, not long ago paphos airport might have closed over winter, less traffic than larnaca, patience required here.
