Morning

I'm hoping someone can point me in the right direction.

We have a Provence gas fire that we've never had any problems with. We arrived yesterday and went to put it on last night but the ignition wasn't working. I changed the battery but still no joy.

I then lit the fire manually but even after holding down the setting wheel for a couple of minutes as soon as I let go the firs is going out.

Any ideas or suggestions?

More than likely, thermocouple failure. Ignition button lights ‘pilot flame’, pilot light keeps thermocouple tip hot, gas supply valve stays open, cold tip and valve closes. It is a ‘fail safe’ device.

Arenco may have another thermocouple?..
Take the old one off and see ...

I've struggled to find anything for this particular fire online - only general gas fires...I'll keep looking.

As Ludlowboy said it points to the thermocouple, if you can get one and you are reasonably handy then yes you can change it yourself without interfering with the integrity of the gas side, its not difficult but getting the part may be the issue in Paphos not sure.
