I think I read somewhere that you have to use their system now. I used to pay via JCC, but it looks as though I have to create an account with the road transport department.
Wasn't it easy when you just called in at the local village bank?

Vehicle licence renewals to begin in January 2025
The Cyprus Road Transport Department (RTD) has announced that vehicle licence renewals for 2025 will commence on Tuesday, 7 January.
Vehicle owners have until midnight on Tuesday, 11 March 2025, to renew their licences without incurring penalties. Licences can be renewed for periods of three, six, nine or twelve months.
Late renewals after 11 March will face a surcharge comprising a €10 fee plus 10% of the licence fee due for the current year.
The department said that vehicles must have both a valid roadworthiness certificate and insurance coverage to be eligible for renewal.
Renewals can only be completed online, except for specific categories including vehicles belonging to embassies, large family private buses, quarry vehicles, vintage cars with special permits, UN vehicles, and vehicles belonging to organisations with exemption code 04.
The RTD advised motorists to renew their licences early to avoid potential system overload during the final days of the renewal period.
Owners who do not plan to renew their 2025 licence must submit an immobilisation notice to the RTD, which can be done through the department’s website. Failure to do so will result in continued liability for licence fees.
Vehicles without a 2024 licence that have not been declared immobilised will be removed from the RTD registry if owners fail to pay outstanding 2024 fees and renew for 2025 by the March deadline.
The department also reminded vehicle owners to update their contact details in the RTD registry to receive important notifications, including recall information.
No renewal notices will be sent to vehicle owners.

LOL, I love that nothing has changed in that Cyprus still gives a good length of time to sort out your Road Tax.
Meanwhile here in UK, we are tormented with ANPR cameras which check everything as you drive by them.
Several on some of the local facebook pages have complained they've received letters saying their Excise Licence and Car Insurance is out of date when it isn't.
They have purchased new cars and changed all of the documentation over but - the computer systems haven't caught up with them. Nightmare!
Note to self: when the car gives up the ghost, don't be buying another one.

All done. The one hear we left it late, we missed the deadline by a day, and it was the first year they didn't extend the deadline, so we ended up paying more.. Think it was on the advise of Emgee, on CL, who always left it to the last minute.
