Bizarrely enough, I think Trump, mad though he is, is probably a better bet to avert WW3. I imagine if he won a lot of the World would find it even more odd than the Brexit result, but we live in strange times.

It's looking increasingly like a Trump victory. I think he will be settling quite a few old scores if he wins.

Its Donald Trump. The comments David Lammy our foreign secretary made against him recently might prove to be very interesting!

Of course it was. The article you posted from BBC mentioned only some of the facts why the German Gov. collapsed.
I am German and watch German TV programs every day and even when politics is not my favourite subject I am following the situation in the news and reports about it.
Trump plans to put import tax for German products which will increase the deficit of the German household even more as Germany is Europe's leading export nation specially cars but also lots of other businesses.
Trump wants to stop weapons supply to Nato which gives Germany another burden as they are already the biggest supporter for the Ukraine war in EU.
It is expected that Trump will strengthen fossil fuels in the USA and weaken renewable energies and electric mobility which is a disaster for the German economy as since the Ukraine war Germany switched a lot of their businesses to these renewable energies and built up huge capacity like heat pumps etc.

Cyprusmax - What a ridiculous comment, as Dominic said nothing to do with Trump's victory - an extract below from the BBC shows the tensions for weeks, Trumps win just added more uncertainty but was not the prime reason for the collapse
"Internal tensions had been bubbling for weeks before exploding into the open on Wednesday night. It was triggered by a row over the 2025 budget, with Germany now facing its second year without economic growth"

And let's say that the German government did collapse as a direct result of this result. What on Earth does that say about the German government?

It goes a lot deeper than an election result ( although that hasn't helped ) German Industry is in big trouble - Audi and VW are closing car production plants - as electric vehicles have not taken off in the way that was hoped - as max said a lot of German investment in heat pumps and they also have not been selling as hoped ( too expensive ) Around the developed world they are pushing new technology too quickly to slow down the alledged global warming - A lot of investment in the new stuff and it isn't selling - Canada has hit china's BYD electric vehicle sales with 100% tariffs if they want to sell in Canada - Trump has threatened to do the same in the US and Nissan announced today that 9000 jobs are to go worldwide as net income has plummeted by 94% in the first half of this year and the new UK government seem hellbent on ruining everyone's day - All the world is promoting a greener cleaner future and Trump wants to go back to the Blackstuff - Not much to look forward to really
