Vet recommendation

Some time ago our darling rescue dog died. When she became unwell (vomiting mucus and totally lacking energy) we took her to the local vet we had used for years. He looked at her and injected her with something to stop the vomiting and to ease the pain in her abdomen. He suggested we return in a couple of days if she hadn’t improved. To cut a long story short, she died early the next morning with an apparent heart attack. Perhaps nothing could have been done to save her, but we have lost confidence in the vet.

We are in the process of adopting another dog, and want the best for her - even if it means travelling to Paphos or Peyia. Recommendations would be appreciated. Any negative “don’t go there” reports would be better by private message.

Since Dr Maria in Emba died a few years ago, we have taken our cats to Pet&Vet in Chloraka. Lovely caring people. Bit of a treck for you, but you'll get all the care your dog will need. They are at Eleutherias Avenue 102, Chloraka, just along from PetzStuff.

Quite a distance from Polis at Kissonerga is the new Animal Hospital: PaphosVets. However, VERY different to local vets in the countryside.

Equipped with
Digital Radiography
Ultrasonography (heart,abdomen, musculoskeletal)
Advanced Imagining (CT Scan and MRI scan) and much more, but look yourself. I was very impressed after I have seen it....

We used to go to CY Vet but got tired of spending hours in the waiting room, having made an appointment. Happened many times. We now go to PaphosVets, which we prefer. Seems more professionally managed and Dr Nikolas is an excellent surgeon with a cautious approach to interventions.

Another vote for CyVets and not too difficult for you to get to from Polis.

Thanks to all for your observations. Private messages were also much appreciated. Our new rescue dog is slightly handicapped and has leishmania, and will need all our love and attention to thrive. So you can appreciate how important a good vet will be.

We find the Animal Medical Center in Polis very good and we have used them for major surgery on one of our cats.

We use the Animal Medical Centre in Polis, Pambos has looked after all our cats and we find he has given excellent care when two of them were seriously ill, we’ve also used him on a couple of occasions for out of hours emergencies and he’s been at his surgery within 20 minutes of calling him.
