The Kataklysmos Festival is making its annual appearance on the Streets of Paphos, at the Sea Front. In this film we take a night-time stroll through the proceedings to see what is on offer. There are two main parts to the festivities. First there is the big open-air Market / Fayre along the Sea Front itself. Second there are musical activities at the Harbour Castle itself.
If you go tonight you will see:
8:30pm
- Address by the Mayor of Pafos Mr. Phedonas Phedonos
- Makis Dimakis with "Droulias Brothers Band" in concert
And on Monday the events are as follows:
5:00pm
- Aquatic competitions and water sports (co-organiser: Pafos Nautical Club)
8:00pm
- Traditional Cypriot songs and dances with musical group "Dias, Laografikos Omilos Afroditi Geroskipou
- Cyprus traditional dances by Laografikos Omilos "Ktima"
- Music dances with the music group "Enora"
- Cyprus and greek traditional music and dances by the PO.LA.E.K dance group.
Bear in mind though, that Kataklysmos is a very popular Cypriot festivity, so you will have to allow a lot of time finding a place to park. I ended up parking in one of the big car parks behind Bar Street.
Kataklysmos itself celebrates the Religious Pentecost, as well as the Great Flood. If you are driving you might want to keep your windows up to avoid the occasional water balloon.
