Does anyone know where these (the type with the counterweighted lid) can be bought, and at what price?

If no one comes up with a definite reply, ask at you local council offices where they get them from..

David
You can buy them re-furbished as well as new I believe.
There is often a phone number on the bins somewhere.
Good luck.

It was the local council's bin men that broke our current one and they refuse to supply another. And what's more, when we get a new one, the council won't take the old one away!

Many thanks for the suggestion, Alan.

What do they suggest you do with your household refuse sacks then. ?? Could you perhaps ask them if it is OK to just leave them in the location of the old bin..

But wouldn't all the roaming (and hungry) stray dogs, feral cats, rats etc simply rip the bags apart during the night, in order to order to forage for food inside, Trev? Leaving a trail of waste and litter blowing down the street?
Just a thought... Cheers- AL

Our site has several bins, we're just replacing one of them. We can just about manage with one less, but when everyone's here in the summer, it can be difficult.
Nothing's been the same on the refuse collection front (in Tala, at least) since the various councils changed operators.

Paphos Al.... Yes. But if the council will not provide refuse bins then what alternative is there ??
Surely it is the councils duty to provide refuse bins... People here pay a 'refuse collection tax' .

Our local municipality do not provide refuse bins. They do of course provide a refuse collection service which is what the tax is for.

Which is why the green wheely bins were brought in in the first place ...

If people broke up their trash first before putting it the bins, & I am talking about TV packing boxes, aircon boxes, various wooden items & plastic bits, etc, then they would get a whole lot more into the bins ............ but my biggest bugbear is those morons that can't manage to toss their rubbish bag into an empty bin & leave it by the side for the cats to trash!

Agreed! Therefore Tala council should at least address David's issue on environmental grounds... Especially as he's willing to pay for the new wheely bin, FCS!
As for 'green' disposal of the old damaged bin, hacksaw it down to small sections, then dump these into the new bin for the weekly collection? It's non-green, actually... It all goes into land fill, does it not?
Cheers- AL

We have a refuse tax to pay, but if you live away from the main streets then you have to take your own rubbish to one of the communal bins.. But they get broken and set on fire and they are not replaced..
