It was not what I expected this early morning when I opened windows and doors to get the hot air out of the building with the help of a large fan.
I was pleased when looking at the thermometer which showed outdoors 17c instead of 27c in the past mornings which means I can lower the indoor temperature before the sun comes up.
But when I walked from one side of the house to the other in the twilight I realised a black band of something.... moving...... ants

So they decided to take a shortcut from one side of the garden to the other by using my bedroom, entering through the sliding door and crossing the whole house to leave on the other side through the kitchen door.

I had to use the chemical coil to get the problem under control, but I am still coughing while I write this post.

At least the temperature in the house went down 5c in the meantime...

I find watching ants quite fascinating sometimes. I've got a video of them (larger ones) carrying cat biscuits from near my front door, across the driveway then across the gravel road to their nest in the field opposite. They must have cleared over 100 biscuits.

It's the ones in my kitchen I can't stand, and they've just returned in full force after their winter break (the tiny ones).

Well, I use since more than 30 years Cypermethrin dust for all kind of problems like ticks on dogs or in dog house, centipedes, ants....which one can buy quite cheap for 1 kg, at special suppliers.

The box explains: one can use it around the house as well as indoors, however it could lead to problems if you have cats or fish. (Cypermethrin)




For imminent solution that early morning I had to use yellow fly spray which kills them the same moment, hence my coughing....
Outdoors I use it every week, but when the wind blows the dust away there is no protection anymore.

Most garden stores where they sell fertilizer etc. a matchstick head sim drop sorted ants in the house including the oil ants. Highly recommend
