St Nicholas Chapel, Kouris Reservoir

St Nicholas Chapel lies on the banks of the Kouris Reservoir. It is a nice enough little church, but far more interesting is the old chapel that lies below it, beneath the waterline of the aforementioned lake. Now, given that the reservoir is very rarely full, the chapel spends most of its time high and dry. However, whenever the water levels rise to the brim, the chapel gets submerged, with ony the top of its spire peeping out of the dark gloom. Annoyingly, when the waters eventually subside, the re-appearance of the chapel is trumpeted as if it was a Brigadoon-like event, whereas in reality the view of the reservoir is just returning to normal.
Currently, the reservoir is less than half full (41.2% as of today), so you get to see the little chapel in all its glory.
