Can someone recommend a company to build a pool in the Paphos area. I'm already in contact with Greenair, but would like to have a few more quotes for comparison.

Riviera pools from Limasol were by far the best price when I did mine 18 years ago.

Meanwhile I have two offers for a pool. One of the differences is the thickness of the concrete base. One company is offering a 30 cm thick base while the other says 12 cm will be enough (they are using a different technology though, so there are other differences as well). How thick is your base? Have you ever had a problem with your pool due to earth quakes?

I remember I was told the strength is important in the sides but the water pressure hold the bottom down, mine must be thin as they told me mine must always have water in.

From what I understood, the main reason why a thick, reinforced base was necessary is the risk of earthquakes. Hence my question if anyone has experienced problems resulting from those. Given that I won´t have the pool tiled but will have a lining, which will be somewhat flexible, I wonder whether earthquakes are really such a problem. Why would a crack in the bottom or walls matter much as long as the lining is intact?

Yes that's correct, I remember, it was 18 years ago, they told me if it was a tiled pool the base must be much thicker. We have had earthquakes and none have bothered my pool, the liner had to be changed at 15 years and the new one cost 4000 Euro. It is 10m x 5m.

Hi Jeba,
If your interested the guy who looks after my pool arranged new pool liner for me and I know he arranges new pools for other people, if you wanted to have a word with him he saved me about Euro 2000 on my liner and it's a wonderful job, he is a Cypriot but speaks good English.
He is Called Chris and his number is 96501722.
Cheers,
Gary.
