Greggs Sausage Rolls in Cyprus ?

Post by trevnhil »

I have in my freezer a box of Greggs Sausage rolls. I had some of them yesterday, and they are good..
My Grandson and family are coming out here in June and apparently, my Grandson loves them.
The shop I got them from has non left. Does anyone know where I may be able to get them in the Paphos area ??

I've just been to Philippos and only bags of bite size sausage rolls at the moment.

Thanks to you both for the prompt reply.. I will be in Alpha Mega tomorrow, and if they have no big ones I could try the small ones from Philipos.

WRIGHTS is another brand that does great frozen sausage rolls and meat and vegetable pies - to be found in most supermarkets.

I'm totally ignorant on the subject, but a question do springs to mind. There is no mention in the website of Greggs about frozen items, as far as I can see. Does this mean that they are frozen by a third party? Whom and under what controls? Secondly, does the pastry freeze well? Just curious, as I did not know that they were available in this country.

Thanks for checking for me MM. But I suppose you are looking for yourself as well :-)

I have eaten all the ones that I had, and the Cypriot Sausage rolls seem to have a sausage in the middle rather than sausage meat.

You really don't want to know what goes in them.

It's so very easy to make them yourself with quality meat. From one large sheet of puff pastry you make 12 sausage rolls.

Back in the day i had the misfortune to visit a pie making business in london, my friend had a business making paper bags etc, and I went to the factory with him, if you saw what passed for meat that they put in their pies , you would not eat another ready made pie again, and i haven't.

We've all heard these stories about pies and sausages over the years, they're full of fat as well. Yet most people still enjoy them, and always will.

I’ve just come back from a long weekend I. London and thought I’d try a Greggs sausage roll whilst there. They’re not for me!

As Louise said, really easy to make your own. For our Coronation party last weekend we made 20 sausage rolls out of just one sheet of Alpha Mega puff pastry and 1 pack of Snack, English style sausage meat. We also made a lunch pie with Snack sausage meat, chicken and and egg using our own hot water pastry. Pastry was a bit difficult as we couldn't get lard, so had to use pork dripping instead. Not quite as good as usual.
