Arising from your “throne”

This may be old news for some of the more senior members of the forum, but I have found it life changing. In the last couple of years I have felt slightly uneasy about getting up from our rather low pedestal lavatories. Perhaps I no longer have the strength to do this without thinking.
We investigated grab bars to haul ourselves up but they were expensive and of unknown reliability. And then I saw this video on Facebook. Utterly life changing.

Absolutely brilliant.

We paid about €60 in a shop specialising for handicapped people. Well worth every penny of it, as it provides support on both sides.

Thank you for posting your tip MacManiac. The best thing about it is that applies to all toilet seats, not just those at your home. So while you may well be able to get a Stannah Toilet Crane for your own house, that will be of no help should you get into difficulties while visiting your kids. Whereas your tip well work anywhere (outside of old French street loos).
