That's true. The 2 enterprises doing the same sort of work in the community supporting those with mostly incurable terminal diseases, operate separately.
At present St Michaels Hospice is operational. The Friends Hospice is busy being renovated in a new building ready for its opening, once it is finished.

2 separate charities working side by side to achieve together in Paphos but Friends hospice is not ready yet & St Michaels hospice charity growing stronger by the day. St Michael's hospice charity have 5 stores within Paphos region ( Harbour, Agapinor, Geroskipou, Peyia and Polemi) and always looking for more volunteers, pop into one of our shops for a chat, and join our friendly team šŸ™‚šŸ™‚šŸ™‚

The saddest thing about this is the ill feeling between some supporters of each of the two hospices. Both are charities and both are run by dedicated and experienced staff. They each do a magnificent job for which many terminal cancer patients have benefitted. Both must fundraise continuously to do this.
But it shouldn't be a sort of competition, there is a plenty for both hospices to do. Once the renovations are complete at the new location of the Friends Hospice they will reopen again. Well done to all at both hospices.

Hi, as far as I’m aware The Friends Hospice does not charge for stays I believe St Michaels charge patients after a period of time. I’m involved with The Friends Hospice and not aware of any issues between the two charities.

Trev,
That's quite true. Hospices don't charge for patient care. They rely on donations.
Memory Man, this isn't the place to go into such details which occurred in the past.

They might have changed now but they used to charge after 2 weeks stay. Not sure St Michaels Hospice has actual charity status although funds are raised through their charity shops. Charge or not the do a good job for people in need.
