I am glad to post a positive story of 2 girls who were falling into a well and rescued without serious injuries.
The well how it looks however was not 40 m deep, more likely 40 feet or less. Anyhow also that deep could be enough.....

As nobody replied to this post why I assumed that the well was not 40 m deep, I will explain: bore holes in CY until 30-40 feet deep are called "Lakkous"
and have a diameter of ca 1 m, while bore holes deeper than that have usually a much smaller diameter to fit 8 inch pipes. Most of the properties in the countryside, but also in towns have this "Lakkous" drilled, in order to collect the overflow water of the septic tank, which then can slowly seep away to the ground. As you need a permit to drill a bore hole for irrigation, but not for a "Lakkous", many people do that and hope to find water 30-40 feet deep......mostly with no success.

Interesting. What are people living close to the sea doing to disposal of wastewater? There, the groundwater level will often be much less than 30 feet deep.
