Some of us think that this case is so sad. Surely, he only did this because he wanted to help his terminally ill wife by ending her suffering. To be with a loved one and to see how much they are suffering is just devastating. Perhaps in law this was wrong, but the poor man is 74 yrs old, why-does ''justice" here have to be so protracted, so he is forced to be detained indefinitely in Nicosia prison. It seems to be inhumane treatment of an old man who must be missing his wife. He is presumably absolutely no risk to the community that he lived in or to anyone else.

Without knowing the facts you can only make assumptions.

But yes, on the face of it, it is a tragedy. It could have been avoided though. Had the man not phoned his friend, his friend wouldn't have alerted the authorities. Should he have phoned his friend? Should his friend have alerted the authorities? Should the authorities have arrested the man?
