Simple solution is not to buy fresh prepacked mini carrots.

Think you’ll find these type of carrots are also expensive in the UK, as are the small different coloured varieties, worth buying for a special occasion if you only want a few and want to recreate a restaurant dish

Maybe you can see in the dark better ....,

I bought fresh, but normal sized carrots today.At normal price for carrots.
No need to buy 'speciality' veggies at high price...
Maybe as previously said chefs of expensive restaurants buy them for decorative reasons..
