We live in Tala and for the last 21 years swallows have nested in our garage . Every year ,that is, without fail. This year not a swallow to be seen.

Something must have happened but internet searches have given no clue.

I just wondered if anyone knows anything.

Astonishing. Having written this went out into the garden and there they were. Much later than normal.

We have them too. The cats have prevented them from using their usual nest, but they were here a while ago considering it.

Also in Tala and they arrived in the last week. Have had to gently steer 2 of them out of the house!

No problem in the middle of the island. They have been breeding like rabbits and the sky is full of them. I suggest that the excessive use of insecticides may reduce the numbers because the birds must feed on flying insects.

I have 3 nest in my patio this year, in Anarita. 2 lots have hatched, the 1st nest are now out all day but back in the evening to sleep in or near the nest. Nest 2 need another week or 2 to fly, and nest 3 should be almost near hatching.

I love my swallows, I'd miss them if I didn't have any - though once all 3 nest are flying it may be a bit much!!

Those under my carport seem to have left already. Breeding mission accomplished.
