Just after 4.30 Am this morning I drove to a place where i was yesterday to find a good position to photograph todays eclipse of the moon.
It was very cloudy yesterday, so this pic is not that special, just to show where I was
an here the first impression this morning
the moon very bright, not red however
closer to the horizon the moon starts getting red and the eclipse starts
however the colour is fading already
this is the last pic before the moon was diving in the sea mist above Paphos, so I was quite disappointed....

Oh well. You can't win them all.

Well, I relied on this forecast....
5:27 πμ
Δευ, 16 Μαί
Partial Eclipse begins
Partial moon eclipse starts - moon is getting red.
Moon close to horizon, so make sure you have free sight to West-southwest.
Map direction West-southwest243°
2.8°
5:43 πμ
Δευ, 16 Μαί
Maximum in Paphos
This is the moment when the eclipse reaches its greatest magnitude while the entire Moon is above the horizon in Paphos. The true maximum point of this eclipse cannot be seen in Paphos because the Moon is below the horizon at that time.
Since the Moon is near the horizon at this time, we recommend going to a high point or finding an unobstructed area with free sight to West-southwest for the best view of the eclipse.
Map direction West-southwest246°

Thanks for taking the time to go out so early to get us these images and thanks for sharing. They are much appreciated in the UK.

At least I got pics from the red moon this evening from my place at 8.30 PM, however it was a bit humid when rising above the horizon...
but higher up the sky was clear

Well, when you try to capture a landscape image that incorporates the moon, you may be a little surprised at the results, as without photoshopping it can be easy a disaster, p.e. the moon is a bright, overexposed blob in the sky, not red how it was there in reality at a time, or
the foreground and entire image is far too dark, almost entirely black with details lost in the shadows, while the moon looks much much smaller than you see it with your eye. It took me more than 70 shots that morning to get some result I liked to share on this forum. I tried to lay the camera on the roof of the car but realized that this was not good as it showed to much of the roof. So I sat in the car with the window open and balanced the camera at the window frame which was again very tricky and produced many blurred images.
Much easier it is to just photograph the moon, but it can be a bit boring....
