Being an ever cautious, ageing octogenarian,i am a little concerned with a text of my so called " personal " bank manager to ring him before the 10th June or my bank will stop doing " transactions " on my account.
I did not know i had a " personal bank manager " .He gives his name and number.
If i ring this number am i being scammed? If i do not ring him then will the bank do all sorts of nasty things regarding my humble account needs as he says they will :?
Any advice please.

Google the phone number.

It might give more info.

I would contact your actual bank and ask them. Presumably you have this man's name and phone number. It would be easy for them to check. If it is phony, take the details to the police.

A few months ago I had a text from the Hellenic Bank which I was suspicious of.

So I rang their call centre and they confirmed that it was genuine.

Do the same, ring your bank.

Had a call from Hellenic Bank a few weeks ago asking us to make an appointment with our local branch to verify our credientials. If you have online bancking you can book this online. You then get a confirmation email confirining meetring. We had to provide passports. yellow slip and 1 utility bill 3 months old or less. These were all copied by the interviewer. We were asked for Cyprus tax id or UK national insurance nuimber. Finally signed 4 lots of forms. The whole interview took about 40 minutes.I imagine they are contacting all customers to ensure there details are up ato date. I suppose if you ignore this request Hellenic could close your account.
