How was your Easter celebration after 2 years restrictions?

I wonder if you also enjoyed your Easter celebrations like I did after 2 years restrictions to visit friends and enjoying nice food. Usually I have been invited for lunch Easter Sunday at Letymbou village in the years before Covid, but this time it was at Simou, also Paphos countryside, ever so beautiful.

Since 13 years I was always invited at Christmas and Easter from my good friend Christos and his family and this time from his in-laws living at Simou. It is a large family and all members come together to celebrate with huge amounts of food they prepare on site on the char or members bring along from home. Also other people were invited mainly for business reasons, this time from Germany and Russia which are in the process of building houses and installing photo-voltaic systems and pools, which Christos (owner of GreenAir) sold them recently. So part of the conversations was of course about the current situation with high prices of energy and how to tackle it. Everybody avoided luckily to mention the ugly war in Ukraine, instead everybody was eating, drinking and laughing for a change. It was also nice for me after so many years to speak my first language with one of the guests but also to join in speaking Greek with the hosts as their English has been non-existent. (recently my Greek improved a lot) As Christos second job is Deputy Mayor I asked him about the new highway at Paphos to Polis and he confirmed that they are starting with the tunnels at the moment.
So after five hours really fun I said good bye and drove back home (only consuming 1 glass of red of course)

My Easter weekend was very lovely, thanks Max. Easter Saturday midnight mass and bomb fire in Kouklia on Saturday, big family Easter Sunday lunch on Sunday, then Mandria square Monday afternoon for the traditional games and souvla. Then an extra day off work yesterday with my first swim in the sea, then an earthquake at night to round off the Easter weekend excitement :) I love Cyprus Easter.

Wow, this was a lot of activities at your end... glad you enjoyed it. There was much more to tell what happened at my invitation in Simou, but right in the middle of it I had to stop because the earthquake started... so it ended a bit abrupt.

Because of mobility problems, we can neither host an Easter agape nor go anywhere to participate in one. Instead, a neighbour brought us a wide variety of the contents of their barbecue and their desserts. We enjoyed the food but it was mitigated by the total lack of ambience. However, full marks for their neighbourliness :-) :-) :-)
