Does anyway have any ideas how to get rid of food spills on kitchen cabinets. It’s a neighbour who wants to sell the property and give it a good clean before listing the property. I enclose a couple of photos of how the cabinets look. He doesn’t want to sand down or damage the wood if it can be helped. Apologies photos on side

Treatment of stains in hardwoods may depend on what caused the stain? Perhaps start with a gentle clean with warm soapy solution, taking care not to get the wood surface too wet.
The other factor which can affect the appearance of wooden furniture is fading or darkening caused by exposure to strong sunlight.
That happened in my kitchen which had limed oak cabinets.

Thank you for your reply Dee. I’m pretty sure it’s food that has spilled down and not wiped clean and it’s seeped into the wood. I have tried warm soapy water but it doesn’t shift it unfortunately. I’m also pretty sure that sunlight is not the problem.

Honestly, with this sort of stain. . . . I would start with a weak solution of warm water, soap (Fairy liquid) and bleach. Leave for a few minutes and rinse with clear water. Repeat if necessary.

Once you get the desired effect, finish off with a clear wax or oil.

PS You could always try a tiny area on a cotton bud with my method but, I always swear by it.

PPS Butchers (wooden) blocks many moons ago were cleaned with soda crystals, wire wool and hot water but I think that method would be too fierce for your friend's needs.
