Friend had a problem early morning starting his car it turned over but wouldn't fire up, noticed a smell of petrol but no sign of a leak. Had the car towed to a local garage for checking and repair. They called him later after inspection to say his rear fuel line had been cut possibly to take the petrol since he had a lockable fuel cap siphoning wasn't possible. Anyone else heard a similair event recently in the Paphos district

A couple of instances but not recently:

Reported in 2021: ''Be aware for thieves stealing petrol from vehicles.
A friend of mine who lives at Florida Heights at top of Melanos Avenue in Paphos, had the fuel pipe cut on her vehicle last Friday night 4th June., and the petrol tank almost drained. Ironically, so did a neighbour's private car, who happens to be a policeman. Best to check your fuel gauge before driving off each morning, and if there is a big difference from the day before, then you may have been visited by these thugs''. Reported in 2020: 'Kissonerga petrol theft. 05.30am this morning our neighbour had their petrol drained from their car in the apartment car park. The thief cut the fuel pipe from underneath the car and drained it'. Cyprus Crime Watch FB group.
