It was also not mentioned that black snakes are hunting the vipers if they come into their environment, so it is good to have them around your property!

As Max has pointed out, the article is factually incorrect in parts. There are 8 species of snake that have been confirmed to have breeding populations in Cyprus with a further 3 species being sighted in the past. Of the 8 species, 3 are poisonous namely the Eastern Montpellier Snake, the European Cat Snake & the Blunt-nosed Viper. Of the 3 poisonous species, the Blunt-nosed Viper is by far the most dangerous but as pointed out in the article it is rarely fatal if medical attention is sought promptly!
